a16z has backed a bunch of b2b SaaS companies that went on to become unicorns (and later IPO’d or were acquired) including Okta, GitHub, PagerDuty and Slack, among many others.

Their portfolio spans a wide range of industries; enterprise SaaS, consumer tech, healthcare, crypto, fintech, security and more. They believe there’s a large potential for AI to impact healthcare & life sciences and that the impact will arise from enhancing human expertise in specialized tasks like diagnostics and medical procedures.

According to Crunchbase Data, a16z participated in 27 post-seed round in Q1 of 2024, more than than other VC partner. Some investments from 2024 include WaveForms AI, Rune and Scribenote - if you’re excited about joining an early stage company, and looking for a chance at one of the next break out winners… keeping an eye out for a16z backed companies is definitely a good place to start.
