I share job search tips from the perspective of a recruiter but want you to hear from fellow marketers too. So this past week I caught up with Aubrey Chapnick. Aubrey is a Sr Product Marketing Manager in the Fintech space and posts a ton of valuable product marketing content... like this recent one: 

I was excited to hear his thoughts on how marketers in a job search can position themselves in a similar way, and win. 

Here's what he had to say: 

“Getting a job in Product Marketing is an exercise in product marketing itself. We’re great at marketing products... but in this case, you are the product. So how do you make yourself really compelling to a very specific set of buyers (the interviewers)?

Start by identifying what you’re uniquely great at. Get crystal clear on the value you bring and which companies would benefit most from it. Then build a strategy and ideally, an inbound engine around that.

For example, I come from a financial background and post content tailored to that ICP, often focused on financial impact and metrics to attract the right audience. When you build credibility and social proof in your niche, you’re better positioned and less likely to get caught flat-footed if you suddenly need to search for a job. Consistently showcasing your work creates "luck" and inbound interest.”

Love this insight. Find ways to get people to come to you (in addition to applying). Get super specific in where you bring the most value. And write in public for that audience.
