Here are 3 (hopefully) non obvious, high impact ways you can organize and boost your job search:

  1. Track Conversations, Not Just Applications


    Create a simple tracker, you can use Excel or Google Sheets and track:

  • Who you spoke to (names, title, contact info)

  • Key points of conversation

  • When to follow up

  • Actionable Feedback

  • Trends

  1. Score Job Postings for Fit vs Excitement

Make 2 columns:

  • Fit Score: How closely your experience matches the bullets in the job description; how close of a match is the company you are working at (industry, size of company, etc)?

  • Excitement score: How excited are you to work there?

Prioritize role where both scores are high. Start to track trends of where you are and aren’t seeing results.

  1. Organize warm leads:

Find 2nd connections at your target companies. Here’s a quick walk through:

  • Go to the company page on LinkedIn

  • Click the number of employees

  • Use the search bar (top left) to find people with titles like “Head of Product Marketing” or “VP of Content”

  • Look for your in common 1st degree connections… then add them to a spreadsheet and track your outreach to your mutual contact for an intro
